Arrivé un peu après 17h afin de donner un coup de main aux organisateurs, j’ai eu l’occasion de discuter avec ceux qui hébergeaient la manifestation, l‘Ecole d’Ingénieurs de Genève (le nom a récemment changé en Haute école du paysage, d’ingénierie et d’architecture de Genève). Cet événement a été possible grâce à l’implication de M. Litzistorf.

Dès 18h, ouverture des portes, puis début du concours. Chaque participant commence les différentes épreuves, réparties en plusieurs catégories :

Au fur et à mesure de la soirée, mes collègues et moi-même se sont pris au jeu. Bruno, comme à son habitude, c’est attaqué aux épreuves de reverse engineering, avec succès, et Michael et moi-même au reste.

Au final, une victoire surprise ! Suivi de tout prêt par nos compatriotes des DC4131 et par nos amis des Sexy Pandas.

After these difficult time for Federer, and also for Wawrinka, it is great day for these two guys !!!

I really would like to thank Roger and Stan for their happiness ! I’m so happy for these two guys, I’m sure they will become stronger in the future.

Martin takes up Randomanie, a website who organizes treks in Switzerland, and France too.

So Jean-Baptiste and me went there, it was a great trek, I really would like to thank Martin for his organization. He has published a summary on his website.

Plus de 60 personnes 1, de tous les niveaux, se sont affrontés : entre ceux qui viennent en couple, ceux qui sont encore qu’étudiants et se demandent quoi faire pour travailler dans la sécurité informatique, et ceux qui, passionnés, viennent en équipe afin de d’augmenter leur domains de compétenences. Parmi les équipes, deux venaient d’assez loin, l’une de Zurich, l’autre d’Espagne (en mission sur Genève 2). L’équipe espagnole (pas au complet) ayant terminée dans les meilleures équipes de la dernière DefCon, la plus célèbre compétition de Ethical Hacking organisée par Kenshoto 3. Même la presse étant présente, des journalistes (et photographe) de la région, mais aussi de Paris !

Au niveau des épreuves, une 12aine au total, réparties entre :

Parmi ces 12 épreuves, 11 ont été réussies au moins une fois. Bruno, l’auteur de 4 épreuves, s’est fait plaisir en préparant cette 12ème épreuve : un mélange de Forensics, de Commodore 64 4 et de patience ! Les solutions de ses épreuves sont déjà disponible sur son blog.

J’ai aussi profité de cette occasion pour une petite statistique au niveau des OS utilisés :

Si on détaille un peu, ça donne :

Aucune surprise au niveau des gagnants : les deux espagnols ont pris les 1ère et 3ème places, alors que l’équipe de Zurich se classe respectivement 2ème, 4ème et 6ème (sauf erreur).

Au final, cette première édition fût un succès, beaucoup de gens et une excellente ambiance. Une deuxième édition en 2009 ? C’est fort probable :)

SCRT vient de publier une partie des solutions, ainsi qu’une vidéo qui résume l’ambiance. A ne pas louper !

I travelled with them during around two weeks in New Zealand, we had great time together ! How lucky I am, during 2 days, I was invited by them in Verbier. We did skiing and snowboarding…british people are always funny in skiing :)

Verbier is one the biggest ski resort in Switzerland, very famous for tourists. But I never thought to see so many british people :) Many years I didn’t return to Verbier, but it’s crazy, that’s a british town in the middle of Switzerland ;)

Anyway, I spent two wonderful days, so I really want to thank them for their invitation :

Des amis 2 de la société SCRT à Lausanne organisent un coucours, Insomni’Hack, de Ethical Hacking le 8 février prochain.

Etant donné que le concours s’effectuera dans les locaux de SCRT, il faut biensûr s’inscrire. C’est gratuit, alors si vous aimez la sécurité informatique, le hacking, etc. n’hésitez pas, inscrivez-vous !

Tout comme un autre spécialiste du domaine qui prépare certaines épreuves, je serais de la partie !

My wishes for 2008 :

  • Passing the TOEIC exam
  • Passing at least the LPI-1 and LPI-2 certification
  • Following a IT security conference / training
  • Travelling to visit different friends around the world (England, Sweden, Norway, France, China, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan or Singapore)

This year, I decided to go 10 days on swiss mountains for rexaling after a crazy December month at work. It was great for many reasons :

  • Snowboard : I bought a new snowboard from Head.
  • Snow : few days before Christmas, it snowed about 2 meters of powder !
  • Sun : on 10 days, I had 9 days of sunny weather !
  • Friends : few friends came to visit me during Christmas or New Year.

We travelled a lot in only 4 days, he was tried every night, but I’m sure he really enjoyed his trip in my country.

I was very happy to receive him, I tried to do my best after he received me in Japan last year.

I invited two friends (Thi and Thao), who have never been to the Swiss mountains. They work with me in the same company, but in Vietnam. During one month, they are staying in Switzerland, in the same office than me.
So it was a good opportunity for them to discover a new region (Valais) in Switzerland, to see new sightseeing views, to eat new food (Thao : how was the snow ? ;) ) and to try new drinks (not really :) .
We did snowshoe near Crans. It was also the first time for me in Crans, so I discovered few places that I have never been in skiing or snowboarding. Lucky, because the weather was very good !
I’ve really enjoyed this weekend, great moment, lot of fun ! Thank you for them to accept my invitation [1]
They also cooked a small soup at evening, so I would like to thank them for it, good opportunity to try some vietnamese food ;)

A new idea for my next trip…
